FIC e Filippi presentano all’Italian Rowing Hub le nuove F17 e F40 Performance

FIC and Filippi to unveil the new F17 and F40 Performance boats at the Italian Rowing Hub

During the 2026 European Championships, Filippi will take part in the Italian Rowing Hub organised by the Italian Rowing Federation in Varese, where two sweep boats will be displayed and officially presented: an F17 and an F40, both in the Performance configuration.

The two boats feature the new monolithic wing rigger, the latest technological development from the Filippi boatyard. Following the launch of the Performance configuration in 2024 with Aliante riggers, the same construction principles are now available to both sculling and sweep crews that prefer a wing-rigger setup.

The new component combines an internal active-foam core with an optimised carbon-fibre lay-up. During the autoclave process, the foam expands uniformly and applies pressure from inside the component, while the mould, heat and pressure compact it from the outside. This creates a more uniform, lightweight and rigid structure, designed to transfer the athlete’s power more efficiently while reducing energy loss and vibrations.

This production technology has also given Filippi’s engineers greater freedom to develop a more complex shape, specifically designed around the loads acting on the rigger. The system can be completed with a newly developed backstay made entirely from carbon fibre, further increasing the overall stiffness of the structure.

The same monolithic construction philosophy is applied to the Performance foot stretcher and seat. Components that were previously assembled from several separate parts and mechanical joints are now manufactured as single structures, reducing potential areas of deformation and improving the continuity of power transmission. The seat also features an updated 3D-printed latex pad designed to provide greater comfort.

Shoe adjustment has also been simplified. The new mounting plate allows athletes and technicians to change the rotation of the shoes quickly by loosening a single bolt, rotating the foot position and securing it again, even while seated inside the boat.

The weight saved through the development of these lighter monolithic components is reinvested in the hull structure, with additional carbon layers positioned in key areas. Hull, rigger, foot stretcher and seat can therefore work together as a single integrated system, increasing overall stiffness and converting the athlete’s energy into boat speed more effectively.

The new F17 and F40 Performance boats represent a further step in Filippi’s continuous technological development, combining advanced materials, innovative production processes and components engineered to perform in complete synergy.
