The Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron / International Federation of Rowing Associations is pleased to announce that the FISA Extraordinary Congress 2009 will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, for the first time on the African continent.

DESTINATION
South Africa has the perfect blend of ingredients to provide an ideal backdrop for any congress: world class facilities, efficient infrastructure, rich cultural diversity, and magnificent scenery, wildlife and adventure. Few regions can match the beauty and excitement you’ll experience in South Africa.

Cape Town is already Africa’s most popular convention city and is consistently voted one of the top international destinations in the world. Culturally cosmopolitan and filled with breathtaking beauty, Cape Town has the country’s top attractions on its doorstep: the dramatic Table Mountain; the vibrant Victoria and Alfred Waterfront; the fabled Cape Point; the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens; the historic winelands; and the powerfully symbolic Robben Island.

DELEGATE REGISTRATION
Registration for FISA 2009 will open in July 2008. Delegates will also be able to reserve accommodation with the registration process.

ACCOMMODATION
Cape Town has a wide range of accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets. All the designated congress hotels have easy access to the CTICC, and all are within walking distance. Reservations at the designated congress hotels can be made through the Congress Secretariat with registration.

The Congress Secretariat has selected a range of hotels and made block bookings at guaranteed rates. There are a limited number of rooms and reservations will be taken on a “first come, first served” basis, so it is strongly recommended that delegates reserve accommodation early.
