International Green Regatta “Memorial Paolo d’Aloja”

THE EVENT HISTORY

Due to the special environmental conditions: lack of winds and currents, and a 2’200 metre long rectangular section, the Italian Rowing Federation decided, at the end of 70’s, to locate the National Centre in Piediluco where athletes can stay for training all year round. The centre is an official venue for national and international competitions. One of the most important competitions is the Memorial Paolo d’Aloja, International Regatta established to honour the memory of Paolo d’Aloja, President of Italian Rowing Federation in the 70’s and 80’s.

The regatta, since its first editions, has been characterised by a good technical competive level due to the presence of numerous Olympic and world champions. The event, in 2025 had a special format on 500 metres.

THE 2026 EDITION

From Friday, April 24th to Sunday, April 26th, Piediluco will host an event that combines sport with sustainability and inclusion. It will be the 40th edition. The schedule of International Green Regatta “Memorial Paolo d’Aloja” includes 2 days of heats (Friday and Saturday afternoon) and 2 days of finals (Saturday and Sunday morning). The regatta is organized by the Italian Rowing Federation with the support of the Ministry of Sport and Youth, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, the Italian National Olympic Committee, the Carit Foundation, the Umbria Region, and the Municipality of Terni. The event is sponsored by Sport e Salute and the Italian Paralympic Committee. WWF is the event’s environmental partner, and piùblu ets is the sustainability partner.
